Reverend Father Maillard was a young Oblate Priest who first came to the developing Francophone village in 1910, where he administered to the Francophone Parishioners until 1912.
In 1913, the Federal government granted the District of Coquitlam its first Post Office, and in honor of Father Maillard’s contribution to the community, it was given the Postmark “Maillardville B.C."
